Midelt – Morrocco

Morocco – Midelt 20/10/16

Day 5
Today we drove southwards on our trip for over 4 hours to the Middle Atlas Mountains and a town called Midelt. The journey led us through the most amazing scenery, from the hustle and bustle of the city to barren out lands, from valleys with gorgeous streams to lush forest areas, we had it all. En route we came across an area full of Barbary Apes, (North Africa’s only monkey), so our driver parked up and we were able to get out and take plenty of snaps. They were quite friendly to say they are wild animals. Our next stop was a lovely village which definitely looked like any Swiss Alpine Village which had amongst other things – chalets. Our guide informed us that this is where the Moroccans come to holiday in winter when there can be up to 2 meters of snow on the roads, and yep its the ski village for the adjoining ski field. We then stopped off for lunch at another village where they served up a really good BBQ. We didn’t ask what the meat was, however the dead goats head hanging up outside the restaurant gave us a clue! It wasn’t long after that we got to our digs in Midelt, and another group night out at a local restaurant.
