Lake Como & Bellagio – Italy

Lake Como and Bellagio 30/8/16

Today we went on a trip to Lake Como and Bellagio. Lake Como is in northern Italy and is Italy’s 3rd largest lake and one of the deepest. The bus takes 1 hr from central Milan. We decided on booking a day tour rather then make our own way. We booked at the visitors centre for 89 euro. Our 1st stop was an hour in the old town of Como to see the Basilica and have a wander round. This part of Como is small and quiet, it looks like more for the elderly as there was certainly a lot of very old dears tottering about. We then went on a 2 hour boat trip on the lake. The scenery is just stunning, there are loads of little towns all along the lake and the boat we were on stops along each one for passengers. Our tour guide pointed out all the places of interest – churches, monuments, locations from movies and of course George Clooney’s villa (no he wasn’t home). We then had 2 hours in Bellagio which is a wonderful little town with the one well photographed main street up from the harbour area. Beautiful old colourful buildings and lots of tiny side streets full of shops and cafe’s. This was a real highlight.
