Surfers part deux & Mooloolaba

Surfers part deaux
Back at surfers cos we love it, (oh and as we can due to no work restrictions). 10/3/16 – 16/3/16Now staying at Budds beach apartments, by the river, lovely spot. On our first night we strolled along the banks of the river, on a wonderful clear night where the stars were shinning very brightly under the moonlit sky, as you do. And we came across 2 fab bars, the “howl at the moon bar” which had a dance floor similar to that in Saturday Night Fever, multi coloured as it changed with the vibes of the tunes playing and “Cocoon Bar. This bar replicated thoughts of heaven, everything white, seats (both indoor and outside), white net curtains everywhere, floors ceilings and walls all white. However the atmospheric lights changed again with the beat of the tunes playing by the resident DJ. It was awesome. Very trendy, very cool and quite posh, all staff were also wearing white.
We also took advantage of a river cruise and lunch. Pretty awesome drifting along the river, beer in hand, sun shinning all whilst listening to the captain giving us a running commentary about the Australian rich and famous who own property along its banks in homes starting from $5 million. Alright for some I suppose. During the cruise we had various perfect spots for photos of the iconic surfers skyline, with skyscrapers galore. Wonderful trip. We were only here a couple of nights so this time we took full advantage of the bars and nightlife on offer and as I said before we had a brill time “howling at the moon”, whilst being in a “Cocoon” state drinking cocktails as if they were going out of fashion. Perfect.

Mooloolaba
Should be renamed “Oolala”. What a brilliant place, sun, surf, sand, blue sky’s, rolling waves, plenty of shops, bars and restaurants no wonder it’s called the sunshine coast. Unlike further down the coast (Surfers), this town is more refined, more populated with the mature holiday makers, and more relaxed. A perfect get away for anyone wanting a few days relaxing by the beach in a casual way. Mooloolaba appears to have a rich Italian inspiration, with every other restaurant was serving the best flavors from the southern medittarian country. The vino list was also very extensive and for the dessert living folks out there, plenty of Gelato on offer. With only 2 days here, it was time to head to the beach for a top up of the tan, and what a beach. The sand was perfect, almost resembling icing sugar in texture, and as it’s midweek at the moment, we had our pick of the crop as to a place to settle our weary bodies. The sun was shinning and the sea a perfect azure colour, with only the slightest of breezes, wafting across us (oh its a hard life for us presently!!!!).
When we got into the sea, it was a perfect temperature for wave bobbing and frolicking around. The surf was quite amazing too, and once or twice we were caught off guard as it swept us off our feet, and under we went. Our perfect posture, not looking so cool now as we splattered our way back to the safe haven of the beach.
Oh and did I mention the shops here are amazing and plentiful. Everything from beach wear to formal evening wear, it’s got the lot, and reasonably priced, although I suppose that’s because we’re here “off season” in the ozzy autumn, lucky for us. It has a great esplanade perfect for young families, plenty of gas BBQ,s , play parks and seating.
We’re staying at Twin Pines Motel, again a great little place, nice enough as motels go and only a minutes walk to the seafront, shops and bars. Actually it’s quite nice not to be on the seafront, on the 17th floor, in a resort type of place, with views across the seas as far as the eye can see, no this place is more down to earth. Again if your looking for cheap accommodation near the sea, I fully recommend this motel and what it has to offer.
We had 3 hours to wait from checking out of our digs to catching the bus to Brisbane, so we wondered around town and came across its wharf. What a great place, lots of lovely boutique shops and cafes and all a 2 minute walk from the beach. We also came across “underwater world”, but it was too late by then to go in. Perhaps We’ll go the next time where here. Great walk, lovely.
