He we are in Taupo and its been another packed couple of days. 22/12/15 – 23/12/15
We arrived yesterday via Wai-o-tapu lady knox geyser, pretty impressive even if they do ‘get her going’ artificially, it was still pretty awesome. By the time we left there the queues to get into the thermal park were huge so we decided against it and drove onto Taupo. Another town i have not been back to in 14 years. We had a wonder round the shops and spent rather a lot more than we intended – more on that in a few months time!
Today our first trip was on the river cruise to the Huka Falls along the Waikato river, New Zealands longest. The falls are spectacular and we got close enough to get a bit wet, awesome. The last time i saw them was as a foot passenger so you only get to see them from above, up close it is much higher. Then onto the NZ River Jet Thermal Safari, a gentle cruise up the river, a drop off at the Orakei Korako cave and thermal park for a wonder around the stunning thermal pools, mud pools and a huge cave. And a thrilling jet boat ride back to camp where we all got soaked – Roy more than me as got him to sit on the outside – our guide Adam is rather fond of the 360’s!!
So tomorrow we are back up to Auckland for christmas with my lovely whanau and a rest for a few days. Happy Christmas to you all x
What a wonderful few days you have had! Merry Christmas to you both x
