Mt Maunganui

Well Mt Maunganui is wow, Wow, even WOWZERS! 10/12/15 – 11/12/15. I think I must have died yesterday during my surgery and go to heaven. This place is like paradise. The azure blue ocean, the tranquillity of the many beaches , along with the cloud free blue sky made this a day to remember, and any other day on our voyage will have to be pretty major to compare with it. In fact when we come back to NZ, we want to come back here, it’s stunning beauty is a drawback nobody can deny.

As we walked along the golden sand of the beaches we were in awe of the beautiful pahutakawa trees which were beginning to flower. The whole beach line was a magnificent array of the most vibrant red, very reflective of the season and Santa’s suit. The many shades of blue from the ocean was only disturbed by the breaking of the odd wave, which turned the turquoise into a very sparkling shade of white, again so reflective of Santa’s suit trim.
The mount itself was stunning and at its base it toward above us stretching high into the sky. We were thinking of climbing or walking it’s circumference, but obeyed Dr’s orders, and just reflected on its natural beauty from the many viewing spots around the bay. Honestly if you’ve never been in this neck of the woods, I strongly advise all to visit. I’m not sure if it’s one of the 101 places to visit in NZ, but if not it should be high on their list. I give it 110% and possibly the 8th wonder of the world.
The town itself mirrors the mounts beauty, very peaceful with its vast array of shops, coffee shops and bars. The high street adorned with the seasons festivities, again which shimmered in the bright sunlight, and if you also caught a glimpse of the brilliance of the blue sky though many of the palm trees, you could think that you were in any of the tropical, exotic islands of the Caribbean.

  1. Great photos and I agree with you – it’s a pretty special part of New Zealand.
